• The Brookside: traditional pub, very near Sunny Brae with reasonable pub grub.
• Homeground: great for coffee and breakfast
• Cafe Italia: popular pizza and pasta joint
• The Crafty Baa: a really unique bar, great selection of beer, good sharing food options and live music!
• Hooked: up market seafood restaurant
• The Lamplighter Dining Rooms in Windermere: top notch Sunday Lunch, and quality menu.
• BAHA, Bowness: modern, lively bar restaurant with decent grub for the family
• Porto, Bowness: elegant, quality dining in a cosy restaurant
• The Brown Horse Inn, Winster: our favourite pub food-inventive and great quality
• The Old Stamp House: Ambleside fine dining, Michelin starred. Fantastic Cumbrian produce and cooking.
• The Source at Gilpin, Knipe Grill and Gilpin Spice: from Michelin starred fine dining to refined pan-Asian cuisine, a great place for a treat.
• L'Enclume: Simon Rogan's flagship, incredible, three Michelin starred restaurant in Cartmel. Book well in advance! Alternatively, Rogan & Co is also very well regarded.
• The Samling: fine dining with fabulous views. Recently awarded first Michelin star.
• Holbeck Ghyll: classic Lake District fine dining

We are building this list up from personal experience and recommendations, so please feel free to forward any suggestion or reviews! There are lots and lots of other choices to suit all different tastes in Windermere and Bowness, it's just that we haven't tried them all yet!
